NewUU and Peking University delegations at New Uzbekistan University

Mathematics named a priority in the new partnership with Peking University

A Peking University delegation led by Vice President Professor Ning Qi visited New Uzbekistan University, and the two universities agreed to widen their cooperation. Mathematics was named alongside artificial intelligence as a priority area for joint research projects.

The agreement also covers student and faculty exchange, the GLOBEX International Summer Program, and continued work through the China–Uzbekistan Belt & Road Mathematics Center initiative through 2030.

Influential Paper Award recipients on stage at AAMAS 2026

Amir Jafari receives the 2026 IFAAMAS Influential Paper Award

Amir Jafari, Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics, has received the 2026 Influential Paper Award of the International Foundation for Autonomous Agents and Multiagent Systems, for work co-authored with Professor Amy Greenwald of Brown University.

The award was presented at AAMAS 2026 in Paphos, Cyprus, one of the leading conferences in artificial intelligence and multi-agent systems. It recognises his contributions to artificial intelligence, game theory and multi-agent systems.

Three medals at the Al-Khorezmi International Mathematical Olympiad

Students of New Uzbekistan University won three medals at the Second Al-Khorezmi International Mathematical Olympiad for university students: silver for Abrorjon Butayev and Olimjon Olimov, and bronze for Jasurbek Ruziboyev.

The olympiad brought together 225 students in 40 teams, 14 of them international.
